Effects of sub-acute cypermethrin on some hematological parameters of Capoeta damascina (Valenciennes, 1842)
Authors
Abstract:
In the present study, we investigated the effects of a sub-acute concentration of cypermethrin on some hematological parameters of Capoeta damascina. The specimens had an average weight of 150 ± 10 g and average length of 21 ± 1 cm (mean ± SD). The fish were exposed to 0, 0.25, 0.5, and 0.75 µg/L (each with 3 replicates) for 10 days. Blood samples were collected on days 1, 5 and 9. Hemoglobin (Hb) and hematocrit (Hct), red blood cell count (RBC), white blood cell count (WBC), mean cell volume of red blood cells (MCV), and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) were measured. There was a significant decrease in RBC, Hct, MCV and Hb of the specimens exposed to cypermethrin compared with those of the control group. Therefore, this study has indicated that environmental pollutants cause negative effects on hematological parameters of Capoeta damascina and impairment of these parameters may initiate other biological complications.

The main idea of this research was to evaluat the effects of concentration and time of exposure the Cypermethrin Toxin on the gill tissue of Black Fish (Capoeta damascina). In order to do this research, the Black Fishes that where used gathered from Kordan River of Karaj and their average weight was 150 gr and their average length was 12 cm. the fish used in 4 treatments (0.25, 0.5, 0.75 mg/lit...

Growth and reproductive attributes were determined for Capoeta damascina, an endemic fish species from west of Iran. A total of 147 specimens of both sexes were sampled monthly from November 2008 to October 2009. The overall sex ratio was female biased. Males were aged 0-4 years and females 0-5 years. The von Bertalanffy growth parameters were estimated as Linf=34.81 cm, k=0.27 year-1, t0=-0.65...

In this paper, the metazoan parasite community system of Capoeta damascina in the Tigris basin (Mesopotamian region) in the Middle-East is presented. Overall, 54 species have been identified. Between 2005 and 2008, Iranian surveys of Capoeta damascina found a total of 47 metazoan parasites species, most identified to species level. In addition, 6 parasite species from Iraq and 1 species from oc...
